Coming from a musical family where her father played keys and sang and her mother sung lead in a reggae steel band. Her musical tastes growing up were from Soca, calypso, reggae and pop music. Her greatest influences at the time being her mother and her idols were Prince and Madonna. Kyra got her first recording done at the tender age of six. ‘Wow when I listen to that I cant believe I was singing that high, its crazy, I was so young I barely remember it but I have the tape to prove it’. Kyra recalls. After a few years of singing with bands, recording, doing live performances with her mother and joining a girl group, Kyra made a decision to take up singing full-time and that’s when she found out she was pregnant. ‘It was the best thing that ever happened to me I was so happy and really excited but I had to leave the girl band as I wanted to concentrate on my baby’. Kyra continues to work with various artists, and producers, such as Supafly who had a hit Lets get down (Island Records) and Maria Lawson (Sony BMG Artist), Supa Soul Brutha Del, Jason Jermaine, Andrae Bentley and other distinguished UK artist’s. Kyra also continues to get support from UKSoul.Org, BBC Three DJ-Lee Drummond, UKMusic.com, Black Heroes In the hall of fame – Flip Fraser, Struggs – A Salute to the Wailers, Madison Media, Rewind Magazine and others. Currently working on her Book and album ‘One’, which incorporates the intellectual, sexy, inspirational and authentic personality of Kyra Simone, in the form of poetry, story telling and song will be a classic introduction to the many faces of Kyra Simone.Soul City Radio

This is where up and coming artists can get their sound out to the masses.
We are rededicating ourselves to you. From this moment on, we will no longer play mainstream music, unless you make it mainstream! We are 100% invested in the indie artists of all kinds, from visual to musical. Every month we feature some of the best independent artists around.
As of November 1st, Soul City Radio will be broadcasting solely on Sunday. All of the shows will be consolidated into that day, in hopes that you don't turn the dial. We continually strive to bring you a quality alternative to mainstream media.
Please, forward any recorded music you may have, as well as a bio to soulcityradio@gmail.com so that we may get it into the rotation as soon as possible. Allow us to help you :)
In an attempt to bring you a better program we have purchased the BTR Premium Package!!!! That allows us to have more lines for callers, and a lot more.
Starting November 1, Soul City Radio will be broadcasting all three of its segments on one day... Sunday!!!!

- The Free Your Mind Experience hosted by Nat Burnz will air from 4pm - 6pm
- In The Studio hosted by DeWayne Alston will air from 6pm - 8pm
- Sundays on the Soapboxx hosted by Mina Holladay will air from 8pm - 10pm
- Soul Sessions (yes I stole her old name) will air from 10pm - Midnight
